Décembre Noir

After bright summer days, autumn marks a turning point. The light is fading visibly. Darkness takes over. Man and nature are going through a process of change. This happens without one first noticing it. You have to pay attention to the nuances and look carefully. Not everything is always as it seems at first glance. The same applies to the music of DÉCEMBRE NOIR. The songs of "Autumn Kings" are all melodic, but also melancholic. The eight tracks of the third album of the German band from Thuringia convey profound emotionality and holistic heaviness. As far as the impressions are concerned, the songs stands out to be much darker and depressing than it seems in the beginning. Nevertheless, a good dose of confidence always resonates, too. DÉCEMBRE NOIR have introduced their melancholic-melodic mix of Death and Doom Metal on the two albums for F.D.A. Rekotz - "A Discouraged Believer" and "Forsaken Earth". With "Autumn Kings", the band is further evolving its distinctive sound. The quintet from Erfurt is interested in subtly growing tension arcs and atmospheric shifts. Feelings of powerlessness or sudden fright are each integrated into a pleasing sounding context. Nevertheless, the songs doesn't lack hardness or complexity. The playing of DÉCEMBRE NOIR, however, should not be fathomed out too much. Listeners should simply let it have its effect on them - without expectations. If they do so, the positive surprise is all the greater.
